Alicia Keys Is in an Empire State of Mind as She Wears New York City Skyline at 2022 Met Gala

Alicia Keys wore the “concrete jungle in which goals are designed of” to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala.

The 15-time Grammy Award winner, 41, introduced the New York Town skyline to the 2022 Fulfilled Gala purple carpet, sporting a Ralph Lauren look total with a black cape showcasing a jeweled layout of the legendary town view.

“My inspiration is our town. New York Metropolis forever. To just be able to have the Empire State listed here — Ralph Lauren is from New York,” she mentioned of her appear. “We actually just needed to convey New York to the gala. I enjoy it.”

“I’m proud of our town. Tonight we are looking forward to currently being with each other — all with each other and possessing some enjoyment,” Keys extra.

Keys — who posed with husband Swizz Beatz — mentioned on the purple carpet that followers had been singing her and JAY-Z‘s 2009 hit single “Empire Point out of Brain” to her as she stepped out in the look, noting that her new tune “Town of Gods (Section II)” is also a celebration of the metropolis.

She layered the piece over a silver jeweled strapless gown and a black geometric 1-shoulder harness. The ensemble was finished with a pair of emerald and silver teardrop earrings and a prolonged braid wrapped in jeweled geometric discs.

The gown code for this year’s Satisfied Gala is white-tie with an emphasis on Gilded Glamour. The theme is “In The us: An Anthology of Fashion,” celebrating the “inclusivity” of American style and serving as a section two to previous year’s “A Lexicon of Trend.”
