Consider the Mini Wedding Dress a Major Bridal Fashion Trend

[ad_1]

Though Kourtney Kardashian put the mini wedding dress on everyone’s style radar with her teeny Dolce & Gabanna lingerie-inspired gown last month, it’s a style brides (and bridal wear designers) have been embracing for the past several years.

We hailed the mini as one of the top 2023 wedding dress trends when we saw several designers showing the style at New York Bridal Fashion Week this past April. The mini is trending for several reasons. The intimate wedding continues to be a popular choice for couples, and for many brides that means not wearing a formal, full-length wedding dress but rather a design that’s fun, fabulous and unconventional. The mini wedding dress has also become the top choice for brides looking for a second or third outfit to change into throughout the event. Britney Spears did exactly that at her wedding, wearing a micro tuxedo dress and a red fringed mini, both designed by Versace.

A few other famous brides who rocked a mini wedding dress? Throwing it way back, Yoko Ono wore a mini when she married John Lennon in Gibraltar in 1969. Consider Ono a bridal style trendsetter, as she was the first famous bride to wear tennis shoes on her wedding day—she accessorized her crepe mini dress with knee socks, plimsolls, oversize sunglasses and a floppy sun hat,

In 2018, Chiara Ferragni married Italian rap star Federico Leonardo, a.k.a. Fedez, and wore three custom Dior Haute Couture gowns for the day, one of which was a mini. She wore a tulle ballerina skirted dress for the wee hours of her reception, held at an amusement park the couple custom created for their day (as you do!).

Lily Allen also wore a Dior mini wedding dress when she married David Harbour in their 2020 Las Vegas pandemic elopement. They had a quickie wedding at the Graceland Wedding Chapel (the service was officiated by an Elvis impersonator), and Lily’s 60s style, bateaux-neckline mini was totally on point for their wedding vibe. She added a tulle blusher fingertip veil to fully bridalize her look.
