Fashion Tips For Indo-Western Wear
Indian women have quite a lot of choices when it comes to clothing. While the conventional ones could stick to sarees and salwar kameez, the others could sport what’s in vogue internationally. What’s more? There is a middle path for those neither too traditional and nor too modern in their approach.
In fact, this path has resurrected a new line of clothing, fashionably known as Indo-western wear today. MetroMela spoke with designer, Shilpa Goyal, who has done a course in fashion clothing from the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Shilpa runs her boutique on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, near Ohri’s. She specializes in salwar suits, sarees, lehengas and tunics. You could even get in touch with her to get custom-make work done. Here’s her take on what you should flaunt in casual and semi-formal Indo-western wear this season.
o Tunics are in. If you are going for the mid-thigh length ones, the straight cut suits better.
o Tunics go best with leggings.
o Kurtis are evergreen. This season, however, try the flared look with the length reaching the knee level.
o In terms of fabric, crochet, leather, suede, printed satin and hosiery material are great choices.
o Go for browns, pinks and whites in colors.
o The Anarkali style (bias cuts) is worth flaunting this season for an elegant look.
o With Anarkalis, it is best to go with churidars when it comes to bottoms.
o Harem pants are still in fashion. So you can still wear those with ease.
o Team the Indo-western look with stoles in the case of tunics.
o Don’t go for small bags this season. The big, hard bags are back in fashion.
o Jewelry could be minimal and restricted to stone bracelets.
